Frank Profera has spent six years making his Lotus go faster, stop shorter, and corner harder. Though it only has to move around 2150 lbs, Frank’s Lotus makes 680 wheel horsepower with a twin-charged 1.8L engine; giving it a better power-to-weight ratio than Mario Andretti’s Formula One Lotus. It’s an ongoing project that may never be finished, because of Frank’s never-ending obsession with speed. We had to take it for a ride.

  1. Dog box legete to sasman Kai I timi tou einai polla giourgia opos Kai I idieterotitatou

  2. Best looking evo by far. Honestly would take a new sti over the new evo as I cannot find a evo 9.

  3. He was using clutch but just barely. He really used the clutch to downshift tho

  4. He has a sraight cut gearbox my friend. You can also shift without using the clutch but after many shifts you would need to change and your gearbox too.:(

  5. isogranazo einai gi auto den xrisimopoiei sumplekti! den ksero pos to lene sta agglika!

  6. Shyttttt damn that cars fast…muchless if they increase the boost and throw in some street blaze

  7. you can shift with out using it. it makes you not lose speed on the time between the shift. but dont do it XD you’ll probably end with out a car haha x.)

  8. He uses the Clutch so fast, the Camera even can’t film it ! Faster than Chuck Norris !

  9. It’s called dog engagement. The trans has no synchros, it has dog rings that basically just have raised blocks that mesh together to match speeds. To shift you just barely lift off the throttle so it can slide out of gear and it will engage the next gear, no clutch. You still get the mechanical efficiency and reliability of a stick with the shift speed of an auto. They can even be DD’ed like a normal stick if your willing to live with a light, dull “thud” on shifts, nothing major.

  10. This is the fastest road legal Lotus with 680″whp”.. so I guess a claimed 445″bhp” would be slower ehh ?
Adding weight to make power is going backwards in the Lotus philosophy of just add lightness… I did think about doing a twin turbo V6 but you could never use the power in the real world… Lighter is always better.

  11. Now that you know what the 1.8 Elise can do, aren’t you intrigued by the possibilities of the Evora and it’s 3.5 V6? true, it’s heavier, but it also holds more potential and represents new generation of Lotus performance. After all, fastest roadgoing lotus ever IS the Evora GTE with 445 bhp out of supercharged V6.

  12. Great work. We all wanted to see a Lotus with some more power. What Hennessey is doing to these Lotuses is pure rape. He turns them into single purpose, straightline monstrosities. At a million dollars a pop before taxes too I might add.

  13. There goes Frank, still being an internet dickhead. Smh… I feel really sorry for you my friend.

  14. Says the man who can’t hold an adult conversation without using childish abuse and name calling. You sir are an embarrasment.

  15. Considering i’m English i understand MY language perfectly thankyou. “Fit and finish” where never the topic of conversation though and you know that. I only ever mentioned the handling capabilities, this you also know.Your arrogance and abuse is astounding as is your skill at commenting on things i didn’t even mention just to try and justify your obtuse behaviour over one polite comment by me.

  16. Do you not understand the fuckin English language [we, with]?.. Lotus have and still do make a shit car as in fit and finish. If it were any good I would have left it stock. The compound setup is my design along with the dual injection.. The video is edited big time… Yeah I’m in the minority..

  17. Oh so now you’re taking credit for building the engine which kind of differs from what is said in this video. It still doesn’t detract from your surprisingly abusive messages to me in response to a perfectly polite original comment by me. It still doesn’t explain your quite frankly ridiculous statement that the Lotus in question is a “crap” car in stock form. You are certainly in a minority with that opinion.Oh and i never said there wasn’t better cars out there as you accused me of.

  18. Why thanks since I built the engine with my buddy, have a look at my Utube channel and tell me again how to drive a Lotus on a twisty road…. You’ll get the appropriate response to comments you make..

  19. He’s deleted some of his comments on here.I just wish he’d have replied to me in an adult non abusive manner, especially as he’s not only representing this car but also the great engineer that built the engine.I was gob smacked when he kept saying he thought the Lotus is crap in standard form.I can only assume he never drove it fast on twisty roads or a European style race track. The chasis is known as one of the best track cars for a reason.Cheers my friend, let’s hope these don’t get deleted ;)

  20. ahhh i see , i can assure you to most anyone here( not even just enthusiasts) know lotus is British, and without a doubt one of the most regarded cars available stock or otherwise . as far as the owner , i imagine he is just a douche

  21. Listen my friend,i was merely pointing out that in the video there is no mention of it being a British car,no hat tipping to the company and in the video he states it was “built” in America.Yes i know this may sound picky but not all know Lotus are British i’m sure.Just a nod to Lotus would have done. Also the owner of this rather than talk like an adult to me went into a rage and sent me quite a few abusive PM’s.He also ranted that he thought it as standard a “crap” car?

  22. maybe i missed something , but where did they even imply this was from north america …. who doesn’t know lotus is from G.B ? or their motors are sourced from toyota for that matter

  23. Any man with a jean jacket has money, remember that kids. Just look at Jay Leno.

  24. lol @ anyone who thinks any honda is as fast as this highly modified car that bone stock had way more grip…however id still like to see any other car take this thing on…im thinking youd need a vette or ford gt thats been tuned to the same level as this car has

  25. A lot of years and scrapped knuckles to earn the toys over the years. The Lotus will hook up if the tires are warm if not it will just spin without even smokin them. remember I didn’t built a 1/4 mile car but a canyon cruiser. I built my own widebody 211. check out Lotussport dot o r g for the build progress. Check out Utube “svronin lotus topanga”.

  26. Well, your a very lucky man Ronin, but I imagine that you worked mighty hard for many years to get the money to be playing with such diabolical toys, so you probably deserve it. Question then, does the Lotus hook up from a standing start as well as the Ford, or does it need a rolling start to get the power down? Did I see that you have now starting modifying a Lotus 2-Eleven? :)

  27. The old git in the video is me and it is was quicker than my old 900 hp 2,400 lb. RS200E.
No I haven’t timed it but since I’m the only guy that has owned and driven the shit out of both for years you’ll just have to take my word for it… The car is now 1,600 lbs. with more grip and the boost is going up….
